When installing, you need 3
different screwdriver head attachments. To commence removal, first remove the
two dimpled aluminum covers as in the picture. Follow the instructions.
Once following the posted procedure
(very simple), remove the center screw that holds the bracket in place. Once
that screw is out, the tunnel cover plate is free to be removed. However, I
would lift up the rubber pads located at bottom of each cup holder first, and
remove the screw hidden underneath. The aluminum cup holder will then be free to
lift off. To remove the tunnel cover plate, gently pop it off with a flat head
screw driver.
When installing the armrest, place it down on the tunnel, with the hinged metal
bracket covering the back holes left by he removal of the cup holder. Since you
have to secure this bracket to the tunnel, you will need to mark 2 holes. I used
a sharp nail head and inserted it through the pre existing holes of the bracket,
pushed and etched 2 marks. Lift off the armrest and then drill the 2 holes with
a very small drill bit, smaller than the width of the 2 tap screws provided. I
also put a piece of black hockey tape under the bracket before I screwed it
down. Before securing the armrest, you will also have the front holes remaining
from the cup holder. Although you won't see these unless the armrest is tilted
back, I would plug it with some sort of plastic plug or just screw in another
black screw. An authentic tunnel cover plate is provided which simply snaps into
place.(The long single slotted side goes in first passenger side before snapping
onto place).
Located at the front side of the base of the armrest console, are 2 stubby
rubber coated feet which protect the tunnel console when applying weight on top,
as well as the hinged bracket gives support (solid piece of steel).
